  • About Your Membership

CMTA is committed to the protection and promotion of the Boating Industry in Connecticut.  Here are a few benefits for your business with your membership investment.

ADVOCACY-PROTECTING OUR INDUSTRY

CMTA retains a strong Government Relations Firm, The Kowalski Group, to assist in our efforts to be heard in Hartford and beyond.  Linda Kowalski and her team of professionals works with the CMTA staff to stay on top of all legislative and regulatory activity that may impact our industry and specifically your business.

PROMOTING YOUR BUSINESS

CMTA produces the largest Boat Show in Connecticut.  For over 52 years the Hartford Boat Show has delivered consistent results for its exhibitors.  From the Armory to the Civic Center, the CT Convention and now to the Expo Center at Mohegan Sun, CMTA continually looks to maximize exposure of the industry, promoting all member businesses and their products.  In addition, CMTA supports and endorses the Norwalk Boat Show and assists in the promotion of the CT Spring Boat Show.

OPENING NEW RELATIONSHIPS

CMTA has long recognized that we as an industry are stronger together.  Getting to know your neighboring business or one who is across the State is vital to our industry's success.  CMTA will continue to develop new networking and socializing opportunities on a state-wide, regional and local basis.

COMMUNICATION & INFORMATION

With so much changing in our world, accurate information is critical to manage a changing environment.  CMTA endeavors to communicate with you as much as possible with insightful and helpful data to help you manage your business.

GROWING THE INDUSTRY
From offering training sessions such as Forklift and OSHA training, CMTA and the CMTA Foundation continues to develop resources to grow the workforce from training and education at the middle and high school levels to incumbent training programs.  NOTE:  Though Covid interrupted some great strides we were making in the workforce development arena, we look forward to gaining great momentum when things open up.

EVENTS

CMTA promotes some annual events and welcome all member input:  Hartford Boat Show at Mohegan Sun, Industry Day & Annual Meeting, Regional Member Meetings & Mixers, Annual Golf Tournament and more.

INDUSTRY PARTNERSHIPS

CMTA maintains long-standing relationships with our National Associations:  the National Marine Manufacturer Association (NMMA), Marine Retailers of the Americas (MRAA), Association of Marina Industries (AMI) as well as MTAs across the nation.  We sit on the Recreational Boating Leadership Council (RBLC), Advisory Council of Marine Associations (ACMA), the National Marine Trades Council (NMTC), New England Marine Trades Association and the National Association of Consumer Shows (NACS).  It is in sharing ideas, concerns, education and more that helps grow CMTA's knowledge and value.

STATE PARTNERSHIPS

CMTA also recognizes the importance of keeping abreast of statewide issues impacting the business climate as a whole.  In order to stay abreast of all activity, CMTA also sits on the Tourism Coalition, AMTRAK Moveable Bridge Task Force, Boating Caucus, BIG Infrastructure Review Team and several Chambers of Commerce.  In addition, CMTA is a member of the CT Business and Industry Association (CBIA)
